Review: bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Buttercream Lipgloss

So for my birthday I let myself buy 2 things from bareMinerals.  I purchased the bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Buttercream Lipgloss in Must Have Pink and the bareSkin Perfecting Veil.  Today I thought I’d let you know what I thought about the lipgloss.  They are available exclusively at Ulta for $18 and come in 12 shades (so a little something for everyone).

The packaging is really cute and almost luxe feeling.  I love the gold components.  I do worry that the gold writing will wear off eventually, but I suppose that it wouldn’t matter as the color name is on the bottom of the tube.

The formula itself is absolutely amazing!  I do really love the original Marvelous Moxie lipgloss, so if you like that I can guarantee you’ll love this.  The scent on these are different from the original since the original uses peppermint oil for some light tingling.  These smell kind of like lipstick.  Luckily the scent doesn’t last very long on the lips because it’s an awful scent to me.

As I stated before, these also don’t have the peppermint oil stinging, so that’s good news for all of you that can’t take the tingle.  I don’t mind either way, but I do appreciate that they took it out for all those sensitive lip people.

The lipgloss is so smooth and great.  I feel like they’re even smoother than the original because I don’t think any of them have any shimmer, glimmer, or glitter particles.  This is the part that I like the most since I’m not a huge fan of glitter chunks.  The formula itself is about a sheer-medium coverage, depending on the color of course.

The color I got, Must Have Pink, is just perfect for my everyday color.  It’s about a medium pink color with a warm-neutral undertone.  I really love this color and I’m glad it’s what I went with for my first color.  Now I want them all…

Overall Grade: A, really the only thing I can really deduct for is the scent.  I don’t like it at all.  It’s not sweet or vanilla-like to me.  Everything else is completely on point.  Now I just need to win the lottery to buy all the other colors :)

Project Pan 3.0 Update #4 – 12 Month Update

Oops…so I’m a little behind on getting this up.  Yeah, it’s been a little hectic around my house lately.  Anyway, I still wanted to get this up, so here it is :).  I hope I can do better this quarter as I feel like I’ve been failing on this quite a bit.

Here are the reasons I have for the extra product I have to use up:
23. I bought a travel size of the Tarte BB Tinted Primer.  I love this stuff!
24. I bought a mini version of the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye concealer.
25. & 26. I bought the Pretty Amazing Lipgloss Collection at the bareMinerals outlet :)
27. I just had to buy the bareMinerals Tutorial: Neutral Eyes kit.  If you know me at all, you know I can’t resist a neutral eye palette from bareMinerals if my life depended on it.

Blue = Trial-Sized
Purple = Full-Sized

What’s In My Makeup Bag: Double Wedding Travel Edition

So I am currently on vacation!!  Yay, finally!  Seriously, I think I’m well overdo on a vacation.  I know I packed quite a bit of makeup this trip, but it still all fits, so I think it’s okay :-/.

I am still using my Orla Kiely for Target Beauty Organizer, but I’m using the newer pattern for this trip.  I wish this would come in better colors, but so far this is the cutest of the 2.  Clearly I love these organizers.  The other one I use as my jewelry making to go bag.

SAM_3093
I switched up where I store my stuff.  The eye makeup just seems to sit better in the center, so that’s where I put it.  Especially since I’m travelling with more eye makeup because I’m going to 2 weddings and not just travelling for work (which is the last time I did a what’s in my…?, link here).

SAM_3094
For my face I am bringing bareMinerals Matte mixed with Olay Complete SPF 15 as my tinted moisturizer.  For primer I am bringing PrimeTime Original.  I am also bringing bareMinerals Matte and READY for my foundations (I still can’t decide what I want to wear and they’re both small so…).  My concealer of choice is the Correcting Concealer (look at all that pan!).  And my powder is the READY powder.  It’s just so convenient to take them all in that slim little MAC compact.  I actually depotted my Complexion Perfection palette and it turned out great!  My blush is the READY blush in The One.  This is the first time I’ve ever not taken MAC Sincere with me on a trip.

For my eyes I went a bit nuts.  Yeah, I never travel with this much eye product, ever.  I’m taking 3 eye palettes: READY 2.0 in The Nick of Time and The Ephiphany and READY 4.0 in The Comfort Zone.  Yes, that’s 3 palettes, that’s insane.  I just want a ton of options for some reason.  I’m of course bringing my Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Jordana 12 Hour Eyeshadow Pencil in Continuous Almond.  I always bring those things when I travel.  I’m also bringing Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners in Rockstar, Zero, and Corrupt and the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara.  I think I’m also going to bring the bareMinerals Lash Domination mascara because it’s much more waterproof.

SAM_3099
Underneath the center pouch I have all of my tools.  For foundation I have my bareMinerals Full Flawless Face brush and Real Techniques Multitask Brush.  I’m also bringing the bareMinerals Max Coverage Concealer brush and Soft Sweep Cheek brush for my face.  I’m bringing quite a few things for my eyes: bareMinerals Tapered Blending brush, Real Techniques Shading brush, Real Techniques Domed Shadow brush, Sigma E25, Sigma E30, and a random angled liner brush that I’m not sure where it came from.  I’m also bringing my eyelash curler (of course) and a paper towel.

Quickie Review: Mountain Scentaments

Today I’m going to do a real short review of the Mountain Scentaments cold process soaps.  I purchased them on her Etsy shop in Morning Sunrise and Dreamin’ Daisy.

20140630-215352-78832320.jpg

I loved the way these looked.  And Dreamin’ Daisy is a dupe of my current body splash from Bath & Body Works, so I thought it would be perfect.

Unfortunately, while they were cute, they didn’t smell very strongly.  In fact, Morning Sunrise didn’t have any scent at all that I could tell.  Dreamin’ Daisy does have a faint scent, but it’s certainly not much.

As for the performance of the soap itself, it worked out okay.  Would I clamor for more?  No, but I will use them up because they don’t dry out my skin.  I don’t find them particularly moisturizing, but they don’t strip my skin of all moisture, so that’s a step up from the normal soap bars you can get in the shops.

Naked and Afraid Beauty Tag!

So, this tag was created by EleventhGorgeous on YouTube!  It looked like a bit of fun, so I thought I’d give it a whirl.

1. What’s your full face routine and minimal makeup routine?
My full face routine is Tarte BB Tinted Treatment Primer in Medium, then either the bareMinerals Correcting Concealer in Medium 1 or Lancome Maquicomplet in Camee.  I follow that up with whichever bareMinerals foundation I’m feeling like that day (I’ve been using the Matte formula lately).  Then I put on a blush (I’ve actually just hit pan on MAC Sincere!) and my setting powder.  Then I’ll sometimes do my eyes.

My minimal makeup routine (where I’m actually still wearing makeup) is just the tinted primer and my mineral veil (or touch up veil).

2. Do you wear makeup around the house?
Never, I’m not huge on wearing makeup unless it’s a special occasion or I’m at work.  For some reason I just don’t bother even though I really enjoy playing around with makeup.

3. Any crazy beauty rituals?
Hmm…a crazy beauty ritual?  I’m not sure that I have one.  I do tend to do my makeup at my desk at work.  I don’t think that’s crazy, although I do look pretty crazy when I’m all of a sudden trying to hide all my makeup when my boss walks up behind me.

4. What’s one product you CAN’T live without and one product you CAN live without!
I can’t live without mineral veil/touch-up veil.  For some reason it just makes me look so much better, even if that’s literally all I put on my face.

I can live without bronzer and highlighter.  I think I’m just not getting the right shades or I just don’t know how to apply them, but they just don’t work for me.  I seriously end up skipping out on them because it’s more hassle than I think they’re worth.

Spring 2014 Empties!

So this quarter has been a bit slow on the empties.  I’m not sure why, but it’s kind of annoying.  Anyway, here is what I’ve used up this quarter.

20140529-155824-57504171.jpg

  1. LUSH Ocean Salt – would definitely repurchase as this is my holy grail scrub!
  2. Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash – would not repurchase if you paid me.  I got this for free with my razor blades and I’m glad I didn’t pay for it.  There was no moisture and it was heavily perfume-y.
  3. Teavana Pumpkin Spice Brulee Oolong – this was an okay tea, but I wouldn’t repurchase it.
  4. L’Occitane Hand Cream in Cherry Blossom – would repurchase.  It’s just a lovely and light scent.
  5. L’Oreal Smooth Intense Polishing Shampoo – would not repurchase.
  6. Fortune Cookie Soap Body Wash in Honey Dew Me – lovely, light, and refreshing scent.  I would repurchase it if it was still available (boo for limited edition scents).
  7. Fortune Cookie Soap Bar Soap in Make It Rain – a tiny bit too floral for me and the soap itself was a tiny bit drying.  I wouldn’t repurchase this one.
  8. Fortune Cookie Soap Whipped Cream in Pinch of Grinch – love this scent!  I would repurchase this if it wasn’t limited edition.
  9. Redken All Soft Conditioner sample (not pictured) – would repurchase.  It made my hair feel lovely.
  10. Fortune Cookie Soap Whipped Cream in Halloweentown – I would definitely repurchase if it wasn’t limited edition.
  11. Gud Conditioner in Mango Moonbreeze – would repurchase, but it was nothing special.  It just smelled really awesome.
  12. Olay Fresh Effects S’Wipe Out Makeup Removal Wipes – would definitely repurchase.  They were very nice and moist to the last wipe.  I think they’re my new favorite wipe.
  13. Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Rosy Lipped – would definitely repurchase.  These lip balms are amazing and I’m so proud of myself for finishing one!
  14. Up & Up Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes – would repurchase, but they’re not too special.
  15. DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom – nice scent, but I wouldn’t buy because it doesn’t last all day on me.
  16. bareMinerals Purifying Facial Cleanser – probably wouldn’t repurchase, but my skin didn’t have an issue with it.
  17. bareMinerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer for Normal/Oily – I would consider repurchasing this, but I will most likely stick to my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ in the winter.  This would be light enough in the summer months though I think.
  18. Zoya Remove+ – This managed to sneak in after I took the picture already.  Anyway, this is my holy grail nail polish remover (if you can have a holy grail nail polish remover).  I’ve already repurchased this.

Hopefully I do better next quarter…
