Review: Papermate InkJoy Pens

So, if you’ve ever met me in person you know how obsessed I am with office supplies.  And now that I’ve gotten a few new things over the past few months, you’re bound to see a few posts on office supplies.  Anyway, today is a review about the Papermate InkJoy pens.  There was all kinds of hype over these when they first came out.  I just got sucked up in it.  And at first they seemed pretty nice, but they ended up not being all they were cracked up to be.  Actually, I’m just looking forward to using them up.  Whenever that happens to be.

There’s quite a bit of bleed through on your typical paper.  And if you press down at all then it’s absolutely awful on the Moleskine paper.  There are 10 different colors though and they are all quite pretty.

 

They write smoothly if you’ve given them some time, but at the beginning they’re not quite as pretty as in the photo.

Overall Grade: B-.  If you’re willing to wait they could be fantastic for you.  They were marketed as being smooth from the first write though.

So I think I posted this on my old blog and not here, but if I did post it here, sorry.  This was from the 2011 Resort collection.  I absolutely love it.  So much that I have worn it quite a few times.  It’s just a great summer pink for fingers or toes.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle in Misty Rose

Honestly, this polish was quite the disappointment.  I mean, I love the formula and the wide brush (which most people hate), but I really thought this would have a bit more of a pink base.  This reminds me a lot of Essie Pure Pearlfection.  This has that same shimmer top coat feel to it.  Next time I’d wear this with a really pale pink underneath, if I even keep it.  Since I have Pure Pearlfection I don’t really need this one too.  Let me know if you’d like to see a comparison of this and Pure Pearlfection.

Review: Moody Sisters from Etsy

So, I finally finished about a million lip balms and so it was time to try out another.  As I’m all about helping small businesses, I jumped on Etsy and found trillions of sellers that make lip balm.  I shall be trying out a new seller every time I need a new lip balm until I find my holy grail.

The Moody Sisters seemed to be pretty popular so I thought I’d give them a whirl.

As you can see, I tried the Mischieveous Mint lip balm.  They were also super sweet and sent me a sample of the dry skin cream to try.  Now for the unfortunate part. 

I’ll start with the skin cream.  The texture of this was really strange.  I don’tknow if it was about to go off or what, but it was almost hard, but oily.  And it felt really gritty when I was putting it on.  As this is marketed towards sensitive skin people with ultra dry skin I thought I could put this on my very sensitive legs.  Yeah, not so much.  This stuff was super oily and never seemed to sink in (thank goodness I tried this at night huh?).  And then it proceeded to make my legs break out with weird bumps that were pretty itchy.

Luckily I had slightly better luck with the lip balm.  That’s not really saying much though.  It arrived slightly melted, but that didn’t surprise me as I like in hot California.  After letting it harden I put it on and thought that it felt okay.  This feeling did not last long.  It didn’t dry out my lips like SoftLips does, but it certainly didn’t keep them moisturized for more than 30 minutes.  The scent is quite minty, like a stronger version of what the Tarte LipSurgence smells like.  I didn’t find it very nice, but it didn’t offend me.

Overall Grade: C.  Unfortunately, these products were pretty average.  The lip balm isn’t something spectacular, even the scent isn’t something fantastic.  And the cream broke me out, but I suppose it could be considered moisturizing if you discount that fact.

Haul: Sephora Chic Week

Now before I get any comments about Project Pan 2.0 I’d just like to say that this haul cost me a whole $2.37 due to having gift cards so I don’t think I’ve truly broken Project Pan 2.0.  And to get 4 awesome products for only $2.37 was just not something I could pass up.  Sure I could have used the gift cards whenever, but why not use them when there’s a good sale going on?

I have been absolutely dying to get my hands on 2 of these products.  The other 2 were agonized over for weeks before I finally made my decision.  I’m so excited!

I got the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed (looked gorgeous and I’d like to see what the hype is about), Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara (love the original version, so I thought I’d give waterproof a go), Buxom Lip Stick in Bombay (looked pretty and I needed something long-wearing), and the Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Petal (this is the newest shade in the range and it looked really nice).  Would I have purchased any of this if I didn’t have the gift card?  I probably would have bought the blush and mascara and taken the hit on Project Pan 2.0.  Those are 2 things I wanted to try for my little sorority sister’s wedding.  I can’t wait to try these all out and give you my thoughts.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Lava

Wow, it’s been forever since I did one of these.  Since I blogged at all really.  I think my nails are finally back to normal.  It took forever though.

Lava is a great duochrome color.  It switches between hot pink and orange.  When indoors it seems mostly pink/coral.  The picture above was taken inside with artificial lighting and no flash.
