Project Pan 2.0 Starting!

I’ve decided that since I’ve moved and now need to save money, I can’t keep all this makeup lying around.  So, in this spirit I’m going through my makeup and cleaning out.  If you see me on MUA (Makeup Alley), then you know that all I’ve been doing is swapping.  Another thing I’m doing to save money is start another Project 10 Pan.
All types of makeup are going to count towards my Project 10 Pan.  But let’s be honest, most of my products completed are going to be lip products.  Mainly because they’re easy to use up and I wear lip stuff all the time, but also because I have a ton of them.  And by a ton, I mean so many that I should be ashamed of myself for having so many that aren’t being used before their expiration date.
Most people do a list of products that are to be used up, but I do just a number that I have to hit.  Another way to do it is a time limit, but that I find wouldn’t be very helpful to me as I need to use up products.  I do have an idea of a few products that will certainly be used up in time for Project 10 Pan, but I don’t have 10 that I know will be used up.
My start date was August 15, 2012.  I’m hoping to be completed before August 2013, but I know that it takes a long time to finish up products and I don’t have a lot of stuff that’s started or close to being done.  I wish I did, but a lot of the stuff that’s going to be finished up is stuff that I haven’t even really started yet.
I have tried, and failed, doing a Project 10 Pan once before.  It was just too hard for me to resist items that were “limited edition”.  This time the rules are much simpler.  Hopefully because of that there are fewer loopholes.  So here they are, my rules this go around:
1.       No buying makeup, but I can buy skincare, hair care, and bath products.
2.       Every 3 products that are mini/trial size will mean that I have to use up one more additional product (i.e. if 3 of my 10 products are mini size, than it will be a Project 11 Pan).
3.       There are only 2 exceptions to the no buying makeup rule.  One is that for a 3 week period when I can only buy the holiday gift sets that companies put out.  This 3 week period is from November 23 to December 14, 2012.  If this should take longer than October 2013, then I will set up another 3 week period during which I may purchase holiday gift sets.  The other exception is that I can purchase mascara.  Since it expires every 3 months, I definitely will have to repurchase more.
There it is, pretty simple.  Obviously, I won’t be making any extraneous purchases in any other beauty category either, but I will purchase those items when I am almost completely out of that type of product.  Here’s to hoping that I can stick to it and resist temptation.  I will be keeping my Birchbox subscription, so that should help.  Yet another long post…
Have you tried a Project Pan?  Were you successful?  What tips do you have to help me get through this?

If I Only Had 10 Products…: a YouTube tag

This post is a response to a tag that had been going around YouTube a while ago.  The video I saw was by amarixe.  I just love her videos!
Anyway, the premise of the tag is that if all your makeup was taken away, destroyed, rendered unusable, etc., what 10 products would you buy again if you could only buy 10 products.  For me, this is of course a difficult task as I can never just pick a few lip products.  Anyway, here is my list.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>1.       <!–[endif]–>Too Faced Shadow Insurance – totally perfect for making sure my shadows stay in place all day.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>2.       <!–[endif]–>e.l.f. Cream Eyeliner in Black – great for a simple cat eye or just thin liner.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>3.       <!–[endif]–>Clinique Nude Shadow Quad or bareMinerals Ready 4.0 Quad in The Truth – since the Clinique palette I love was a GWP, it’s probably easier to find the bareMinerals quad.  They’re both nice, basic palettes for simple work looks or going out at night looks.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>4.       <!–[endif]–>Clinique High Impact Mascara – this is my holy grail mascara.  I don’t care that it costs more than drugstore.  It actually makes my lashes look like there are more than 5 of them.  Just an amazing, relatively natural looking mascara.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>5.       <!–[endif]–>Clinique Age Defense BB Cream in Shade 03 – it just seems to even my skin out without putting on a ton of product.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>6.       <!–[endif]–>Stila One Step Bronze – just adds a bit of warmth and helps my BB cream stay all day.  Absolutely necessary if using the Clinique BB Cream as it has very little staying power.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>7.       <!–[endif]–>MAC Sheertone Blush in Sincere – the perfect every day, no fail color.  Honestly, if I wasn’t into makeup so much, this could probably suffice as my only blush.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>8.       <!–[endif]–>theBalm Stainiac in Beauty Queen – a nice flush of color when I don’t want to just use Sincere.  It’s very natural looking.  It also doubles as a lip stain.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>9.       <!–[endif]–>Philosophy. A Kiss of Hope – perfect lip treatment.   It is very pricey though.  And I probably wouldn’t splurge on it if (in this hypothetical situation) all my makeup hadn’t disappeared.  Nothing looks nicer on lips than smoothness though, and this is the best that I’ve found for that.
<!–[if !supportLists]–>10.   <!–[endif]–>Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey – my holy grail for natural lip color that has just enough tint to make it look like I tried a little.  I love these types of colors, but even better is that this formula is a stain that doesn’t try out my lips!  I have about 6 of these Balm Stains and I adore them all.  Makes me want to buy them all, just because I can.
Haha, can you tell I’m a lip junkie?  My explanations are way more in-depth for my lip products.  I did try and make it so I could do an entire face of makeup otherwise I probably would have done 10 lip products.
What 10 products would you buy again if they were the only 10 you could have?

7 Deadly Sins of Beauty: a YouTube tag

This is definitely an old tag, but it seemed like fun.  I saw a bunch, but the first one I saw was from MissGlamorazzi.
1.       Greed: What are the cheapest and most expensive products that you own?
Cheapest is e.l.f. cream eyeliner in black that I got for $3.
Most Expensive is Clinique BB Cream that I got for $37.  At least that’s the one that I can remember.
2.       Wrath: What product do you have a love/hate relationship with?
I love my bareMinerals Matte Foundation for the feel and look, but it’s an absolute pain to work with and I always end up with a dust cloud no matter how careful I am.
3.       Gluttony: What’s your most delicious product?
Not that I go around eating my products, but the MAC Tendertones smell the most delicious.
4.       Sloth: What product do you neglect due to laziness?
Of the products that I actually use, concealer and eyeshadow are the ones that are going to be neglected if I’m in a hurry or feeling too lazy.
5.       Pride: What product gives you the most confidence?
Lip products, any and all lip products.
6.       Lust: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
Not that this has anything to do with beauty products, but kind eyes are something I find really attractive.
7.       Envy: What items would you like to receive as a gift?
In terms of beauty products, lip products and nail polish.  You can never go wrong with a pretty polish color.
That’s it folks.  Let me know your responses to this tag!
